Gainsborough armchair

England, 18th century.

Taking its name from Thomas Gainsborough, the portrait artist who familiarised the design, this is a very handsome example, with wide proportions and particularly well-drawn arms. Newly upholstered in antique linen, left 'decontsructed'. Excellent condition, original barrel castors.
