BASED ON an early electric design for a student lamp found at auction in Cambridge, the Readers lamp is a lesson in utilitarian style. A sturdy weighted base, with a sliding arm and adjustable lamp-holder. Made from spun and turned raw brass, which is unpolished and unlacquered, desirable for its warm tone and oxidised patination. It has already started ageing naturally and gracefully. Simply wipe clean (do not use brass cleaner or polish) to maintain the ageing process.
