I'm Nolan, founder of Tyssen England. Inspired by the practical, unassuming beauty of a traditional task lamp, and driven by the scarcity of good makers, I learned how to make them myself. As an antique dealer I was drawn to the timeless quality of English brass, taking lamps apart to understand their clever simplicity. Rewiring and reassembling them gave me the same pleasure I had playing with Meccano as a boy. There’s an honesty to the brass, from a time before we came to expect decorative finishes. I like just a natural finish, untampered with. Tyssen England lamps are a revival of the good-ol’ basics.
